In 1990, national associations representing construction micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and craft trades in six European countries joined forces to establish the European Builders Confederation (EBC).
At European level, EBC advocates the true value of the economic and societal weight of construction SMEs and crafts and ensures that this strategic sector is taken into account by the European institutions and the EU Member States in their policies.
At national level, EBC members cover trades ranging from general contractors, masons, carpenters, joiners, plumbers, roofers, electricians, heavy equipment operators, machine and sewage system operators, HVAC and renewable energy installers, to finishing trades such as plasterers, tilers, floor covering installers, façade builders and painters.
With more than 300,000 companies in its network of national associations, EBC promotes the role of crafts, micro, small & medium-sized construction companies in the face of current European challenges. These companies are predominant as local economic actors and drivers of local employment.
EBC represents, defends and promotes the interests of the building sector’s micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, in close coordination with our national member organisations.
To achieve this mission, our objectives are to:
