Digitalisation offers transformative potential for the construction sector, enhancing productivity, reducing project costs, easing physical tasks, improving energy efficiency data collection, and lowering building life-cycle costs. Digital tools like Building Information Modelling (BIM) or innovation like exoskeletons will however only see widespread adoption across the construction value chain if they are affordable, accessible, and provide clear value to SMEs and craftsmen.
EBC actively supports policies that foster digital transformation, from integrating digital aspects in the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to promoting the SME-friendly use of Digital Building Logbooks and other standardised tools for seamless data sharing. Through collaboration with contractors, architects, and manufacturers, EBC ensures that SMEs receive the support needed to achieve a successful digital transition.
