The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is a cornerstone of EU legislation in the construction sector, establishing uniform rules for marketing construction products with the CE mark, allowing them to circulate freely within the EU market. The CPR ensures that the performance of construction products is reliably declared and verified, eliminating the need for additional national testing or certification. In 2024, the CPR underwent revisions to address the evolving needs of the construction industry, enhancing standardisation, regulatory clarity, and alignment with other EU laws.
EBC champions an internal market where construction SMEs can thrive and continue to drive sustainable growth across Europe. To this end, EBC called for addressing the shortcomings by improving the standardization system, simplifying administrative processes for SME, clarifying regulatory coverage and legal considerations, and better aligning with other EU legislation.
